Relax and Unwind in Gettysburg

Published August 17, 2010

With schools beginning again so soon, there’s no doubt some relaxation is in order.  Make the most of this last week or so and take some time to rejuvenate before the hustle and bustle of fall is in full swing.

Our quaint town of Gettysburg offers the perfect setting to relax and regroup. First stop: The Gettysburg Day Spa.  The Gettysburg Day Spa, located within walking distance from the Gettysburg Hotel, offers a full-scale spa experience in a historical civil war property. Their services range from salon services to facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and body wraps/scrubs.

They offer a Thai massage, which is a four hand massage performed by two therapists! In a regular massage the client can keep track of the movement of the hands. In a four-hands massage the mind simply can’t follow the motion of the hands any longer and consequently ‘gives up’! (Talk about the ultimate relaxation!)

More than likely, your feet could use a little love after walking around in your bare feet or in those flip flops all summer. Spa pedicure to the rescue! Plus, the Gettysburg Day Spa offers the area’s only ozone generated six-jet whirlpool pedicure chairs!

Read more about their other services here and join them on Facebook.

Second Stop: After your luxurious day at the spa, stop by Adams County Winery or Hauser Estate Winery’s Downtown Wine Shops. Adams County Winery is located at 25 Chambersburg St. and Hauser Estate is located at 17 on the Square. Bring your selections back to the Gettysburg Hotel. Be sure to book a room with a jacuzzi, of course!

This Spanish proverb says it best – “How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then to rest afterward.”
