What’s Happening this Weekend
Published August 27, 2010
Although summer doesn’t “offically” end until the first day of fall, which is September 22, we are calling this the last weekend of summer.
So what’s going on in Gettysburg this weekend? Here are some of our suggestions…
1) Longaberger 2010 Basketfest
This event, held at Boyds Bear Country in Gettysburg, actually started on Thursday the 26th, and is going on until Sunday. You can make your own adorable event basket or buy one when you arrive. There will be bargains on baskets, pottery, wrought iron and more! The Longaberger Factory Store located at Boyds Bear Country will expand its product selection just for this event! See what else will be going on during the festival here. Be sure to make reservations for “Make a Basket.”
2. Adams County Winery Free Summer Concert Series
As part of their summer concert series, Adams County Winery is closing out the series with the Skyla Burrell Blues Band on Saturday, August 28th. Guests can enjoy free music, while relaxing dancing, eating and drinking their favorite Adams County Winery wine! The concert is from 1:00pm – 5:00pm and located at The Farm Winery- 251 Peach Tree Road in Orrtanna, just 15 minutes west of Gettysburg.
Visit their website for more information.
3. Sparkling Sea Class
On Saturday, August 28th, Wentz Stained Glass Studio at 48 York St., Gettysburg (downtown) is offering a sparkling sea class! Combine beautiful seashells and bevels to create your own Sparkling Sea panel. Students must bring own stained glass tools. Shell and bevels are included. Class is from 9 a.m.-noon and costs $45. (The Beginner Stained Glass class is a prerequisite for this one so if you haven’t taken that class yet, here is a list of all of their classes). They all sound like so much fun! Look at what you can make…beautiful!
Enjoy the last weekend of summer in Gettysburg!
