Fall Fun in Gettysburg

Published September 24, 2010

This weekend is packed with fun, fall activities in Gettysburg! Here are two of my suggestions for your weekend agendas:

Gettysburg Fall Outdoor Antique Show: Saturday, September 25th, 7:00am – 4:00pm (rain or shine)

If you love antiques, you will want to be in downtown Gettysburg on Saturday! This one-day event features 125 antique dealers from 13 states displaying their unique pieces on the sidewalks radiating from the historic Lincoln Square. Sponsored by the Gettysburg Area Retail Merchants Association. (click to read more about GARMA.)

Johnny Appleseed’s 236th Birthday Barn Dance at the Historic Round Barn and Farm Market. Saturday, September 25th from 6:30pm- 10:30pm.

Historic Round Barn and Market

After a day of antiquing in downtown Gettysburg, make your way to the Historic Round Barn and Farm Market located just 8 miles West of town. Prepare for a night of fun and dancing! Ladies of the Parlor will be teaching circle and square dances! During the breaks they will have some popular “line” dances such as the Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide,  Cupid Shuffle, Macarena and even the Hokey Pokey and Chicken Dance (both kids and adults can enjoy so bring the whole family or make it a date night!) It is rumored that there may even be a celebrity appearance by Johnny Appleseed himself.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. A ticket purchase automatically enters you into a door prize drawing. Food will be available for purchase and the event is BYOB! (I suggest stopping by Hauser Estate Winery, which is right up the road from the Round Barn, for some Jack’s Hard Cider to go with the apple festivities!)

Have a great weekend!
