What’s Going On This Weekend- October 15
Published October 14, 2010
Wow! there are so many fun things going on this weekend in Gettysburg! Don’t you just love fall? Here are my suggestions for the weekend ahead:
October 15th: Eddie Palmieri at the Majestic Theater 8:00pm
Spend your Friday evening enjoying wonderful music in the beautiful Majestic Theater!
“Mr. Palmieri can make a piano roar – The New York Times.” Nine time Grammy® Award winner Eddie Palmieri is known for his charismatic power, bold, innovative drive and a sound that encompasses salsa, funk, soul and jazz. Dubbed “The Latin Thelonius Monk,” Mr. Palmieri has collaborated with Tito Puente and other jazz greats. Appearing with Palmieri will be his seven piece Latin band.
There are still tickets available to this show tomorrow night. Tickets are FREE with Gettysburg College ID. For more information and to purchase tickets click here.
October 15th and 16th: Round Barn of Terror
The Historic Round Barn may be a cute and innocent farm market by day, but once the sun begins to set, all bets are off. As that darkness begins to creep in, the Round Barn becomes full of life or should I say, full of the afterlife!
At 6:30pm every Friday and Saturday in October the second floor of the Historic Round Barn & Farm Market transforms into Pandemoniums Round Barn of Terror. Admission into the Round Barn of Terror will be $10 and the last ticket will be sold at 10:30pm every night.
Each weekend a different non-profit organization will volunteer their haunting skills. Each organization will then receive a portion of the sales for the nights that they volunteer. So after you are scared out of your mind, you can feel good about it, because you are helping a good cause. For more info visit the Round Barn’s website here.
October 17th: Liberty Mountain Fall Fest & Customer Appreciation Picnic. Noon -4pm; rain or shine.
Libery Mountatin invites you to get ready for the upcoming winter season by buying or picking up your 2010-2011 Season Passes and Advantage Cards at Fall Fest! Liberty Mountain Sports will be open so you can try on new boots and check out this year’s latest in snow clothes. Opening day is right around the corner so you’ll want to be ready!
Festivities of Fall Fest include chairlift rides, live entertainment from the Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band, scarecrow building, pumpkin painting, climbing wall and zip-line and much more! Chef Dwaine and his staff will be serving up their popular BBQ lunch – free for new and renewing pass and card holders and only $10 for adults and $6 for kids 6-12 (under 5 free).
New for this year’s festival they are even offering a Microbrew Beer Tasting! Guests can enjoy beer samples from regional breweries in their very own LibertyMountain tasting glass!
If that weren’t enough fun, they are also holding the 3rd Annual Gettysburg Cannonball Chili Cookoff! Enjoy the different tastes of local chili recipes, all while experiencing the Fall Festival atmosphere! Local chili enthusiasts will form teams and enter the cookoff for a chance to win monetary prizes and special awards. From 12 Noon to 4pm, guests can taste the different chili recipes for $5, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting local non-profit organizations. Help the judges choose the people’s choice winner by voting for your favorite chili recipes.
