Spotlight on Downtown Shop- The Pottery Box & Gift Shop

Published November 17, 2010

Downtown Gettysburg offers so many interesting and fun shops that we hope to spotlight for you on our blog! One such shop is the Pottery Box and Gift Shop located at 23 Chambersburg St.

Laura and Enrique Fernandez started the Pottery Box in August of 2008. What started as a shop that offers Mexican pottery led to a unique gift shop carrying many other items, such as jewelry, scarves, handbags, art, cards, paintings and more.

The goal of the shop is to give local artists the chance to sell their art at affordable prices. This is definitely true as I was pleasantly surprised at the affordability of items such as sterling silver necklace and earring sets!

Some really unique items include…

Mexican silver and Alpaca Silver Jewelry (all handmade in Mexico!)

Talavera Pottery pieces (see picture below), which are sunproof, waterproof and hand painted.(Again, you won’t believe the prices for these hand painted pieces of art!)

Here are some photos of the shop and their products:

Indonesian Batik Art has been around for centuries. It is a combination of paint, cloth, wax and needles to create beautiful masks, animals, games, clothes and so much more!

Be sure to visit the Pottery Box website here. They have online shopping available if you will not be in the area any time soon. Many items would make great holiday gifts.

Also, the Pottery Box is one of our fellow Gettysburg businesses on Twitter! Check them out there and on Facebook, too!
