Things to do this Weekend in Gettysburg 2/25
Published February 24, 2011
Last week’s warm weather was just a glimpse into the spring season that’s coming our way. But just because the cooler weather is back for a little bit, doesn’t mean that it should stop you from having a great weekend here in Gettysburg! Here are a few things I suggest putting on your list:
On Saturday, February 26th, Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve will be opening their doors to the public to share the ins and outs of maple sugaring! The morning will begin at Mount Hope United Methodist Church with a pancake breakfast and continue at Strawberry Hill for the demonstration process. This event is suitable for kids of all ages so bring the family and learn everything from choosing a tree to cooking the syrup. For more information on times and prices, visit Strawberryhill.org or “like” them on Facebook here.
Also on Saturday, February 26th, The David Wills House will be hosting an afternoon of live music with costumed living historian Quinn Gilly. Listen to Quinn play authentic music on his handmade banjo and learn a little bit more about Civil War music! This fun experience will take place on the hour and half hour from 1pm-3pm. Don’t miss out on this time to enjoy classic American music!
Maybe you’re looking to just take a stroll through downtown Gettysburg and browse one of the many unique shops that Gettysburg has to offer. I suggest making your way to 17 On The Square right here in downtown Gettysburg! You could spend hours walking through this over 10,000 square foot store filled with Civil War Antiques. With everything from jewelery to books, you will definitely have the antique shopping experience that you’re looking for. Visit the 17 On The Square website for more information on their store.
Have a great weekend! Next weekend is First Friday, which means tons of specials and fun happenings around town! We will get you the scoop next week so stay tuned. 🙂
