If you’ve been in downtown Gettysburg lately you may have noticed a sign in the store front of Pages of the Past Bookstore (courtesy of the American Bookseller’s Association). EAT SLEEP READ LOCAL. As the sign states, the idea is to “cultivate community” and support local business! This prompted me to write a blog post about some great places Gettysburg has to offer! Here are some suggestions here in downtown Gettysburg for you to try:
EAT: Try out McClellan’s Tavern. Open every day for both lunch and dinner, this American menu is set right in the Gettysburg Hotel overlooking Lincoln Square. The bar was imported from England! Stop in at Blue Parrot Bistro on Chambersburg St. Whether you’re looking for a fine dining experience or a casual dinner out, Blue Parrot has both to offer.
SLEEP: Gettysburg Hotel. In the heart of downtown, the Gettysburg Hotel offers the perfect setting for your Gettysburg Getaway!
READ: Relax at Pages of the Past Bookstore. With a wide assortment of books, gifts, and hand made gift cards, Pages of the Past is a welcoming and friendly shop to search for the perfect book or have a good cup of coffee!
BUY LOCAL! More shops and places in downtown Gettysburg to note…
True Friends Boutique: This adorable shop has handmade jewelry, body care products, accessories, a complete bead store and much more. True Friends even offers beading classes for all of you who are interested in making your own jewelery!
Grace Kelly Salon: This premier salon allows a chic environment and “green” attitude to collide for a great salon experience.
