Gettysburg Festival Kicks Off This Weekend

Published June 8, 2011

This weekend marks the beginning of the annual Gettysburg Festival! From June 10-19 guests will have the opportunity to participate in a number of arts, cultural and culinary events. There’s a little something for everyone! The kick-off event is June 10th at the Tavern on the Green (adjacent to the Festival Main Stage at Gettysburg College). This is a pub-inspired celebration leading up to the Straight No Chaser Concert. Enjoy classic American pub fare—from hors d’oeuvres such as black bean caviar with tortillas, to entrees such as fish ’n chips, steamed clams and “peach tea” chicken wings—followed by delectable desserts.

Straight No Chaser will take the stage at 8pm (Gates open at 6:30). Don’t miss the stylish, a cappella sounds of this all-male group in a high-energy, outdoor concert under the stars!

The Cajun-Creole Cookout on Saturday, June 11th, sounds like the perfect way to spend a hot summer day! Chef Woltman will bring the heat to this year’s Festival by offering traditional Big Easy favorites–crawfish gumbo, shrimp with Andouille sausage, blackened catfish nuggets and much more along with Pat O’Brien’s Hurricane signature cocktails. After the cookout, guests will enjoy two performances with southern flare featuring the Crawdaddies and Zydeco-a-Go-Go. View the entire menu and buy tickets here.

The party continues with “After Hours at the Attic” on Friday and Saturday Night from 10pm – 1am at The Attic, Gettysburg College
Continue your Festival fun into the late-night hours! The Festival spotlights emerging talent in an intimate nightclub setting. $10 cover and cash bar available.

There are may more events going on this weekend and throughout the Festival!! Check out the entire schedule here and be sure to join the Gettysburg Festival on Facebook to keep up with all of the fun.
