Spotlight on Downtown Business – Mr. G’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop
Published June 20, 2011

I had the pleasure of experiencing one of Gettysburg’s newest businesses this past weekend – Mr. G’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop.
The shop is located on 404 Baltimore St. in the same house where Confederate sharpshooters once fired upon Union soldiers. According to an Evening Sun article,
It’s ice cream offered Gettysburg style, said owner Mike Gladfelter – as dozens of bullet holes mark the south side of the house and in front stands a sycamore tree, estimated to be 300 years old and have witnessed the Battle of Gettysburg. Read the full article here.
The shop offers 16 homemade flavors. (Good luck deciding!) I ordered coconut, which was delicious. Some of the other flavors include black raspberry cheesecake, mint chocolate chip and butter pecan as well as soft-serve. In Mid-July, the shop will offer fresh peach made with Hollabaugh Bros. Inc. peaches. Not only does the shop offer amazing ice cream, the atmosphere is perfect for a summer day! Picnic tables and benches offer guests the opportunity to relax and enjoy.

People in line on Saturday night for Mr. G's homemade ice cream! The long line was worth the wait!
