Beat the Heat in Gettysburg

Published July 20, 2011

If you have spent any time at all outside in Gettysburg the past couple days the first thing you will notice is the HEAT! We have had temperatures in the upper 90’s all week long and that trend appears to be continuing. Although spending time outside in the summer is ideal, sometimes it’s just too hot. Here are some fun *Air Conditioned* activities in Gettysburg to check out:

Take a Gettysburg Bus Tour on an Air Conditioned Coach:
The Licensed Guide Bus Tour with a National Military Park Licensed Guide on an Air-conditioned Coach Bus offers the visitor a truly unique perspective into the struggles of the three days’ battle. Read more about this tour from the Gettysburg Tour Center.

Visit the David Wills House:
We have mentioned this wonderful museum in many previous posts.  This new National Park Service museum dedicated to the memory of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and the remarkable recovery of a town devastated by war. The David Wills House features five museum galleries and two recreated rooms, the David Wills Law Office and the Lincoln Bedroom. The museum will guide you through the days, weeks and months after the battle of Gettysburg. It illustrates President Lincoln’s historic visit to the devastated town, the immortal words of the Gettysburg Address and the legacy of hope and healing that they brought, and continue to bring, to our nation. Visit their website for ticket information.

Catch a show or movie at the Majestic Theater:
You can’t go wrong with attending a performance or movie at the Majestic Theater. Classic Movie Memories are still going on every Wednesday night! Tonight’s movie is Showboat (1951). Current nightly movies include Midnight in Paris and Cave of Forgotten Dreams. For tickets and schedule information click here.

Everyone be safe and keep cool out there!
