What’s Going on This Weekend in Gettysburg- July 15-17

Published July 14, 2011

We hope everyone is having a fantastic summer so far! This weekend marks the “unofficial” mid-way point in the summer. Make the most of these next few weeks by coming to Gettysburg for a relaxing weekend or even just for the day. This weekend, July 15-17, there are many fun activities you will want to check out.

Here are three of our favorites:

Saturday, July 16th: Art at the Farmers’ Market

As we mentioned in a previous post, the downtown Gettysburg Farmers’ Market is a must-see while in town! It is located on the Square and offers an excellent opportunity to sample Adams County fresh produce (there will be peaches on Saturday!!) as well as homemade baked goods, artisan soaps, coffees and more. This week is extra special since artists from the Adams County Arts Council will also be displaying their works during the Farmers’ Market. Start off your Saturday morning browsing through beautiful works of art!

Saturday, July 16th: Hauser After Hours Caribbean Night

One of the best ways to spend a Saturday summer evening is to relax and unWINEd at Hauser Estate Winery’s Hauser After Hours events! This particular evening is Caribbean Luau Night from 6-9pm. Enjoy the island sounds of a steel drum band as you feast on island inspired food from a local caterer! Enjoy ice cold hard cider or a glass of wine. Visit Hauser Estate Winery’s website for more information or “like” them on Facebook.

Sunday, July 17th: Sunday in the Park 2011 Summer Concert Series.

A local favorite tradition, the Sunday in the Park Series is held at the Gettysburg Rec Park Amphitheater at begins at 7 p.m. This Sunday come and enjoy a great evening of outdoor music by Williamsport Community Band.  The band met for the first time during the summer of 1998. From that day they have grown in number and in quality of musicianship. The band boasts a membership of 50 to 60 excellent musicians from all walks of life. All are volunteers and enjoy playing because of their love of music. This concert is one in a series of FREE Sunday night concerts sponsored by the Adams County Arts Council, Community Patrons and the Gettysburg Area Recreation Department. (In the event of inclement weather or soggy ground, the concert will be held in the Assembly Room of the Charlie Sterner Recreation Building.)

Have a great weekend in Gettysburg, everyone!
