Gingerbread Celebration 2011 Underway

Published December 2, 2011

The Second Annual Gingerbread Celebration by the Gettysburg Festival is underway. Read about last year’s wonderful event here. Many folks enjoyed an opening reception yesterday evening and the chance to place first bids on the culinary masterpieces! Events continue today and tomorrow.

Enjoy a gallery of gingerbread houses by chefs and artisans to usher in your holiday season! Place your bids to own a gingerbread creation, with proceeds benefiting the Gettysburg Festival. All visitors are invited to vote for their favorite gingerbread house as well.

Visit the Adams County Arts Council Education Center on 125 South Washington Street for this great event on December 2 and 3:  Free admission Friday, 9 am-9 pm, tying into Gettysburg’s First Friday events and on Saturday, 9 am-5 pm. Complimentary hot cocoa and coffee along with other surprises.  The display includes a holiday art market featuring artwork for sale, created by Festival plein air artists and hand-crafted holiday items by The Christmas Haus and other exclusive vendors.  On Friday, enjoy the sounds of the Gettysburg High School String Quartet from 5-7 pm.

Gingerbread house bidding continues on-line and in-person through Saturday afternoon with winners announced at 3 pm.
