New Year’s Eve 2011 – Gettysburg Style

It’s hard to believe it, but in just a few short days we will be ringing in 2012! This year, plan to welcome the new year on Lincoln Square in downtown Gettysburg.
The Gettysburg Hotel offers a great getaway package that is consistently sold out, but there are also a lot of activities going on for the entire family that are free and open to the public. These activities are presented through the partnership of The Gettysburg Borough, ACNB Bank, Adams County Arts Council, and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania.
Here is the schedule of events:
Lincoln Square:
9 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.: DJ Denny White
9:30 p.m. – 10:20 p.m.: Classic rock with the band One More Time
10 p.m. -12 midnight: Balloon Art by Adventure in Fun in Gettysburg Hotel lobby
10:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.: Classic rock with the band Audacity
11:30 p.m.: Countdown to midnight on Gettysburg Hotel porch with Mayor William Troxell, Gettysburg’s Abraham Lincoln James Getty, Funny Hat Contest, and vocalist Meg Folkemer
12 midnight: Fireworks display sponsored by ACNB Bank.
Arts Education Center, 125 South Washington St.:
7 p.m. – 9 p.m.: Children’s arts activities
Drop in the Arts Council’s new Arts Education Center to create a musical instrument, enjoy children’s craft projects, and make a funny hat, for children ages 4 through 12.
Christ Lutheran Church, 44 Chambersburg St, Gettysburg
7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Jazz by pianist Herb Sell
8:45 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.: Magic with Joe Kerrigan
9:45 – 10: 15 p.m.: Community Sing-along
10:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.: Cormorant’s Fancy – folk, Celtic, and seasonal tunes
11:45 p.m.: Community Worship Service
Free hot cider and refreshments throughout the evening.
