Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade in Downtown Gettysburg
Published December 3, 2011
Tonight marks an extremely exciting time in Gettysburg – the 24th Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony!
There is definitely something magical about the quaint charm of Gettysburg during the holidays and this is the “official” kick off celebration.
During the parade on Saturday, December 3rd, enjoy a variety of bands, floats, costumed characters, distinguished guests, dancers, youth groups and, of course, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus!
Two dozen children will be spreading holiday cheer in Downtown Gettysburg as they sing before and after the annual Gettysburg Christmas Parade. The choir will be on the steps of the Gettysburg Hotel at 6:30pm prior to Saturday’s parade.
The Parade will begin at 7:00pm at the Gettysburg Middle School on Lefever Street. It will proceed north on Baltimore Street to the Square, and then continue east on York Street. The route then turns south on Liberty Street to return to the Middle School.
After the parade, Santa’s Shanty will be open on the Square for the children.
