What’s Going On This Weekend in Gettysburg: June 8th-10th

It’s safe to say that summer is officially here in Gettysburg!

There are so many fun events going on this weekend. Here are just a few to put on your list:

June 8th – 10th: Gettysburg Festival
The Gettysburg Festival kicks off on Friday, June 8th with headliner, Robert Cray! This weekend’s activities include an Art Market on Saturday and Sunday:  Stroll through artisans’ tents and enjoy live demonstrations and fine arts offerings from a wide variety of juried artisans including painters, potters, wood-workers, carvers, jewelry-makers and more. Adding to the festival atmosphere: a full day of free musical entertainment showcasing regional talent, a wide variety of quality food vendors and festival bar featuring beer, wine and other beverages. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Saturday’s musical lineup features:

  • 10 am: Friends Creek Pickers, playing a mix of old country, gospel and bluegrass
  • 12 pm: Gettysburg Brass
  • 1:30 pm: The Willys, featuring classic rock and beyond
  • 3:30 pm: Booker Lee & the County Fair, mixing rock and roll ballads as well as barn-burners

Sunday’s musical lineup features:

  • 11 am: One More Time
  • 1 pm: Gettysburg Civic Chorus
  • 2 pm: Gettysburg Big Band
  • 3:30 pm: BlackHand, an acoustic trio playing American folk rock

Friday, June 8th: Author Will Hutchison Book Signing (Gettysburg Gift Center at the American Civil War Wax Museum)
Will Hutchison will be available from 3:00-5:00 pm to talk with visitors, discuss his work, and autograph copies of his books.  Will’s books can be purchased at the Gift Center prior to his appearance.

About The Author:  Will Hutchison is a retired officer in the US Army and Marines, and later became a Federal Special Agent. He has engaged in interesting and often dangerous endeavors from combat while in the Marines, to undercover narcotics, to counter-terrorism at nuclear plants. He resides in Gettysburg, where he pursues his writing and occasional law enforcement consulting projects. As an avocation, he has written and lectured on military history internationally for over twenty years. He is a meticulous and passionate historical researcher. Read more here.

Saturday, June 9th: Hauser Estate Winery Sips and Sounds Summer Concert
Hauser Estate Winery kicks off their 2012 Summer Concert Series with the Pale Barn Ghosts. The summer concert series, Sips and Sounds, is in addition to their weekly free music. It will be held outdoors in their huge lawn field overlooking the pavilion and the vineyards. Tickets are $10 and available for individual shows. A season pass for all five shows is $45 and includes a demo CD containing music from the bands and a free drink at each show.  Don’t forget  your lawn chair! Friday, June 8th & Saturday, June 9th: Arts & Crafts Sale
The Adams County Arts Council is presenting an Arts & Crafts Sale in the gallery now through July 1 featuring 36 artists.  Hours are Monday through Thursday 9am-9pm, Friday & Saturday 9am-5pm.
