Amtrak Exhibit Train Pulls Into Gettysburg This Weekend
Published September 26, 2013
There’s a special train pulling into the Gettysburg Train Station this weekend.
Originally created to celebrate Amtrak’s 40th anniversary in 2011, Exhibit Train gives visitors a chance to take a self-guided tour through interactive exhibits, displayed artifacts, and ephemera that tells the Amtrak story from its beginnings through today.
The Exhibit Train (including three display cars that were formerly baggage cars) is led by a diesel-electric locomotive and will contain information on four decades of Amtrak history. The end car is a reconfigured Amfleet Café car containing a gift shop. Train enthusiasts might be interested in purchasing Amtrak: An American Story, an illustrated history written by company employees.
