Another week has come and gone and now it’s time for the weekend! I know I sound like a broken record when I fawn over how wonderful this cool, crisp weather feels. Rumor has it that some local orchards are already open for pick-your-own apples, too.

Friday, September 20
Evening Battlefield Concert at the Pennsylvania Memorial Each year, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society gathers in a different city to hold its annual convention. This year’s site is Gettysburg. The “President’s Own” United States Marine Band and West Point Cadet Glee Club are performing. 7:00 – 9:30 pm. This is a free event, but tickets are required.
Hauser After Hours Schizphonic at Hauser Estate Winery, 410 Cashtown Road, Biglerville, from 6 pm – 9 pm. This is a free event, with pay per plate food available for purchase. Wine and cider available by the glass or bottle. Call 717-334-4888 for details.

Patriot Award Dinner The final event of the Congressional Award Society’s Convention, this ceremony and dinner will present the Patriot Award, the Tex McCrary Award for Journalism, the Bob Hope Award for Entertainment, and the Distinguished Citizen Award. Music in the Valley! Bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy the sounds of Beatles cover band Crossing Abbey Road at Reid’s Orchard & Winery, 2135 Buchanan Valley Road, Orrtanna, from 2 pm – 5 pm. Wine and sangria available for purchase until 9pm. Call 717-677-7047 for more information.
