Winter Weddings That Wow!
Published December 22, 2017
The season plays a major role in selecting your wedding date, which means a lot of couples flock to the warm weather months that have flowers in bloom and bright sunny skies. However, a winter wedding can be enchanting and memorable all on its own. Here are just a few of the seasonal bonuses that will wow your guests every time.
The Magic of the Christmas Season
At the Gettysburg Hotel, we take decorating for the holidays very seriously and each public space features a themed Christmas tree. The Grand Ballroom’s tree is over 15 feet tall. This works to your advantage because it means fewer decorations for you to purchase, pack, and bring. Just because the hotel decor doesn’t necessarily match your wedding color scheme doesn’t mean that the pieces will clash; take it from our friend Mary Beth who got married here last December.
“As you know, I did not really want the big Christmas tree in the ballroom because I was fighting the whole “Christmas wedding” theme. I am so glad that beautiful tree remained in the ballroom. I’m so glad I had a wedding at Christmastime – it was magical! Somehow we pulled off a winter/pink and gold/Christmas reception and it was perfect. I loved the tree; I loved the touch of little trees and white lights and all the candles. It came together perfectly. Do you know how many families took pictures in front of that tree? And do you know how many Christmas cards I received that they use pictures from the hotel lobby and that Christmas tree from?”
The Warmth of the Holidays
When a guest comes to stay at our hotel, they have the option to select a suite with a fireplace, which will automatically warm their spirits with the sound of crackling and the beauty of the flame, but the fireplaces don’t stop there. Our lobby, Atrium, and College Room all offer fireplaces for guests to gather around while spending time with family and friends. Mary Beth put it best, “I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful and positive the feedback has been from our guests about the hotel and their experience. People loved their rooms. They loved how beautiful the hotel looked for Christmas. John’s family thought the front desk was fantastic!”
If the friendly staff and fireplaces aren’t enough, our rich, hearty dinner selections are sure to remove any lingering chill. With cocktail hour selections that offer steaming cheese fondues, hot butlered hors d’oeuvres, and plentiful spirits, guests will only be getting started. Our dinners include options for three and four-course meals prepared to suit any dietary needs. Mary Beth even asked us to “Please pass along to Chef that we received so many compliments on the dinner. He outdid himself in both presentation and flavor!”
Winning Winter Bonuses
Two of the biggest bonuses that will make you feel like you’re #winning are availability and discounts. Winter months, especially January and February, are the least popular, but you’ll find huge savings! At our property, the rental fees for the Grand Ballroom reduce dramatically in those two months and you still get all the fun parts of the package, including the gold Chiavari chairs, choice of napkin color, and the custom designed wedding cake.
To top it off, you will have a wider selection of dates. Because these months tend to be less popular, you may not have to compromise on the date you want. The same will be true of your desired vendors; if there’s a certain photographer you just have to have, it will be much harder to secure that person for an October wedding than it will be in January.
