Our predictions for what’s going to be big this year for weddings

Wedding season is upon us in Gettysburg and we couldn’t be more excited to see what the big trends are this year. Our team is constantly reading up on what’s new and exciting and we have a few predictions of our own about what we’ll see at this year’s celebrations.

A return to classic, formal ballroom weddings

A ballroom wedding is a way to host an event that feels fancy, upscale, and worthy of your special day. A ballroom wedding at the Gettysburg Hotel ensures that the only thing you have to worry about it showing up on the big day. We set up, provide the bar, food, service, and coordinate with your vendors. View more information about our weddings here.

Statement Wedding Cakes

Out with the trends of alternative desserts like cupcakes, pies, and small treats and in with the traditional wedding cake…with a twist. We think that this year wedding cakes will have a big comeback and we’ll see them bigger and more opulent than ever before.

Royal Wedding Touches

There have been a few royal weddings this past year and they are all top of mind when thinking about what can inspire the vision for your big day. Whether you’re swooning over the Duchess of Sussex’s simple dress and epic veil, or Princess Eugenie’s emerald tiara and simple floral bouquet, we think that this year you’ll see a lot of nods to our friends across the pond.

Statement floral pieces and pieces using non-traditional items

Being green is top of mind to brides these days and they’re looking for renewable, cost-effective alternatives to the traditional florals that have been used at weddings for decades. This year, we think that our couples will work in lots of greens, grasses, and wildflowers into their wedding day vision.

Photo-worthy stations and Props

Weddings are memorable for everyone there, but some couples are looking to take things up just a notch. We think that not only will people still have customized hashtags for their weddings, but will also provide something very Instagram-worthy.

Gin Cocktails

We think that Gin is coming back in a big way this wedding season. A versatile, light, and very delicious flavor profile, gin lends to a variety of cocktail creations. Light and refreshing with herbs and lemon, sweet and seasonal with berries, or classic combinations with cucumbers and mint, gin is a hit no matter how it’s served.
