New Year, New Resolutions at the Gettysburg Hotel

Four ways our hotel helps guests achieve their New Year’s resolutions
For many of us, it is a tradition each January to come up with a few ways we can better our lives. In fact, according to a study published by Inc.com, over 60% of us admit to making New Year’s resolutions. It is a natural time to make a change and press the “reset” button. Here are four ways that our hotel is working to help guests stick with and achieve their New Year’s resolutions.
1. Make Healthier Food Choices
The beginning of a new year often means the beginning of a new diet. Carrying excess weight puts us at a greater risk of heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. People eating a restricted diet live longer and endure fewer age-related diseases. Even small changes help, like eating slowly to allow your body to send cues about fullness.
Our menu at One Lincoln features several options for health-conscious patrons, including our Grilled Vegetable Flatbread, a delectable Hummus Plate, or one of our freshly prepared salads. Chef Holmes also highly recommends the Sautéed Salmon dish from the dinner menu as a healthy option.
2. Focused on Fitness
Many join a local gym, get a pedometer or strive to take at least 10,000 steps a day. A healthy lifestyle that includes physical activity is a great way to lose weight and feel better both mentally and physically.
The fitness center at the Gettysburg Hotel is found on our lower level and is equipped to keep guests on track and in shape during their stay in Gettysburg. The fitness center features two treadmills, an elliptical machine, a recumbent bike, as well as free weights and a workout bench.
3. Getting Fiscally Fit
Some good general tips on being financially responsible include saving what you can and setting a budget to spend wisely. Start with a monthly budget that you can follow regularly. Be intentional about checking your bank and credit card statements to know exactly how much you’re spending each month. Take a look your the auto payments and subscriptions in order to cancel any that you do not need.
To save money while visiting Gettysburg, be sure to sign up for our email list as we frequently send out great offers directly from our hotel that are not found in other places. We also encourage guests to pick up the readily available rack cards and brochures from local area attractions as many of them include coupons for admission or discounts. Our hotel also offers great discounts for Seniors, AAA members, and Military.
4. Spend More Time with Family and Friends
Not all New Year’s resolutions are self-oriented. Including friends and family in your resolutions allows you to take time to reconnect with the people around you and stop letting life be too “busy” for nights out or for making memories.
A family trip or girls’ weekend in Gettysburg is an easy way to stay true to this resolution. The Gettysburg Hotel offers large suites and connecting rooms that make family travel easy and fun. We also provide a variety of specials and packages that you can enjoy together. With so much to do in our area, why not surprise your family and friends with a fun and easy getaway?
